Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis and Rudy Gobert have been announced as the finalists for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Gobert is the reigning DPOY and is currently going for a three-peat. Giannis was a finalist in 2019 and Davis was a finalist in 2018. A case can really be made for all three this season. Gobert did pretty much the same thing he did the last two seasons and the Jazz continue to play winning basketball. Giannis' steals and blocks dipped from 1.3 and 1.5 last season to 1.0 and 1.0 this season but he was the league leader in both defensive rating and defensive win shares. Anthony Davis' addition to the Lakers has transformed them from out-of-playoffs to number one seed in the West.
