When asked why Marc Gasol and JaMychal Green didn’t play in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s loss, J.B. Bickerstaff said “I thought those guys (the reserves) earned the right to play.”
The interim coach went on to say, “You know, they cut the lead down. I didn’t want to disrupt the rhythm of that group, so I just let them run.” A masterful tank job is at play here, and luckily for owners both Gasol and Green were productive through their three quarters. Gasol finished with 17 points, six rebounds and seven assists while Green picked up 11 points and eight rebounds. Both players have been playing too well to bench right now but it will give fantasy owners some pause if there are equivalent alternatives at hand. The fact that the Grizz will likely pull similar tricks going forward should slightly improve the outlook of guys like Deyonta Davis and Myke Henry.
