Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce told Alex Poythress he would work hard to develop him this season.

Poythress signed a two-way contract with the Hawks this season and got a call from head coach Lloyd Pierce, “He gave me some real facts,” said Poythress, “What to expect. What your role would be. No (b.s.). We are going to get after it, work hard and develop you as a player.” The forward averaged 10.7 points and 4.8 boards in 26.2 minutes with the Sixers in 2016-2017 while on a 10-day contract after being named a G-League All-Star the same season. He spent last year on the Pacers, but didn't get playing time. The Hawks will likely tank yet again in 2018 which means the 24-year-old will be given a shot to produce during the season. The former Wildcat is a name to watch in deeper leagues.
