The Hawks will stand by in free agency despite $20 million in cap space.

The Hawks are going to trust the process and will likely be lottery bound the next few seasons. They have $20 million in cap space and three open roster spots, but they will wait out the bidding wars. “We’ll kind of sit back and see what the market dictates. … We’ll kind of play a waiting game and see how the market plays out," said Hawks GM Travis Schlenk. The article goes on to say that Schlenk and new coach Lloyd Pierce expect Dennis Schroder to play alongside draft pick Trae Young despite Schroder's comments that he doesn't want to play for a losing team. It doesn't make a lot of sense for the Hawks or Schroder to remain together so he will likely be dealt closer to the trade deadline.
