As J.R. Smith is trying to force his way out of Cleveland, he explicitly said on Tuesday that the Cavs are tanking.
"I don't think the goal is to win. The goal isn't to go out there and try to get as many wins as you can. I think the goal is to develop and lose to get lottery picks. I think that was always the plan." Smith flirted with a fine from the NBA a couple weeks ago when he requested a trade and he may be facing disciplinary action again. He played only 5 minutes yesterday as the Cavs seem to have replaced him in the rotation with David Nwaba and he should be dropped in all formats until a trade or a buyout opens up more minutes for him.
