• Jake Layman - F - Trail Blazers

Jake Layman dropped 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting in a 116-83 blowout win over the Suns on Wednesday.

He looked great in this game and will likely have a role in the Blazers rotation this season. Sharpshooting is his main skill as he poured in five threes tonight, so if he does crack the rotation consistently he will likely have decent fantasy value for 3-pointers only.

  • Alexis Ajinca - C - Los Angeles Clippers

The Pelicans have traded Alexis Ajinca to the Clippers, who will waive him.

Ajinca didn't play last season and has been sidelined throughout the preseason. For the Clippers, it's cheaper to waive Ajinca than the since-departed Wesley Johnson.

  • Shaun Livingston - G - Golden State Warriors

Shaun Livingston has missed the last two practices with foot soreness and is questionable to play on Tuesday.

Livingston will be on and off the injury report all year. He's constantly banged up and the Warriors are extremely thorough in their injury reporting. Livingston isn't a fantasy factor but if he did sit it would result in more minutes for Quinn Cook.

  • Myles Turner - C - Indiana Pacers

The Pacers and Myles Turner have agreed to a four-year, $80 million extension.

Turner can now play without looming contract talks hanging over his head, and it should only help him improve upon last season's general letdown. While his backup Domantas Sabonis is also young and extremely talented, the deal locks Turner in as one of Indiana's featured players and a core piece, so expect him to be treated as such. Turner is a solid pick around the fifth round of most drafts, as he could easily turn a profit if he can get back to building on his strong sophomore season.

  • Davon Reed - G - Phoenix Suns

The Suns are working on a trade to move Davon Reed, but will waive him if no deal emerges.

The Suns need to clear space to meet the roster guidelines for opening night. It's a little surprising that the Suns guaranteed Reed's contract earlier this summer only to cut him in favor of the ancient Jamal Crawford, but that's where we're at.

  • Jawun Evans - G - Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers will waive Jawun Evans.

Evans got caught up in an unfortunate logjam, as the Clippers needed to clear two contracts to get down to 15 and have seven or eight guards, depending on how you classify a few people. The former 39th overall pick should be able to get an offer from another organization, even if he has to spend some time in the G-League.

  • Russell Westbrook - G - Oklahoma City Thunder

Russell Westbrook is listed as out on the Thunder game notes, but his status can still change.

Westbrook was expected to miss the opener from his original prognosis and still isn't cleared for contact, so we are not expecting him to play. A game against Kevin Durant may be enough to motivate him to play, but the Thunder don't have any reason to risk their superstar in game one. Keep an eye on his status.

  • Steven Adams - C - Oklahoma City Thunder

Steven Adams is listed as questionable for Tuesday's opener with lower back stiffness, according to Royce Young of ESPN.

This is a new injury for Adams and is not encouraging a day before the season starts. We would still expect him to play as of right now, but his status needs to be monitored. If Adams misses, Nerlens Noel would likely draw the start with Patrick Patterson and Jerami Grant seeing increased minutes.

  • Wesley Johnson - F/G - Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have traded Wesley Johnson to the Pelicans for Alexis Ajinca, who will be waived along with Juwan Evans.

The Clippers needed to waive two players and it is cheaper to waive Ajinca than it is to waive Johnson. Evans was buried on the depth chart but should be able to surface somewhere with at least a G-league contract.

  • Taurean Prince - F - Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks have picked up the team options for Taurean Prince, John Collins and DeAndre Bembry.

There is no surprise here. Between Prince, Collins and Bembry, the Hawks have seemed to hit on all three despite them being drafted 12th, 19th and 21st respectively. Between these three, the three first round picks from June's draft (Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, Omari Spellman) and another year of tanking, the Hawks may have something brewing with their young talent.

  • Russell Westbrook - G - Oklahoma City Thunder

Thunder coach Billy Donavan said the team has prepared both having and not having Russell Westbrook as they are still unsure if he will play in Tuesday's opener.

Donavan also said Westbrook has been doing more every day, but still needs to be evaluated after workouts. We still have not heard anything about Westbrook being cleared for contact, which is not a good sign one day before the game. If there was a player who would play the same day he was cleared for contact, it'd be Russ, but the Thunder have no reason to push him for the first game of the season. Either way Dennis Schroder should see extended run in what projects to be a high scoring game against the Warriors.
