Jalen Brunson starting Friday over Delon Wright

Jalen Brunson is getting the starting nod for the Mavs on Friday, replacing Delon Wright in the starting five.

This is an interesting twist in the Brunson-Wright position battle. While we know Wright is the more well-rounded player, he hasn't exactly inspired much confidence out of the gate. Keep a close watch on their minutes tonight.

Jayson Tatum

Tim Bontemps of ESPN is reporting that the Celtics are expected to offer Jayson Tatum a max contract extension this offseason.

Tatums is wrapping up a fantastic season where he averaged 23.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.9 blocks and 2.9 triples, on his way to making the 2019-20 All-NBA Third Team. The Celtics clearly see him as their franchise player and he should remain in Boston for many more years.

Joe Harris

Joe Harris wants to return to Brooklyn and the Nets have made it clear that he is their top priority in the offseason, but he’s expected to have plenty of suitors.

Harris said back in February that his preference was to re-sign with the Nets in order to play with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and has steadfastly maintained the same position up until now. Brooklyn has already committed $132 million to a dozen players for next season, not including Harris or a $5 million team option on Garrett Temple. Ex-Nets assistant GM Bobby Marks recently mentioned that if Harris got a starting salary of $12.2 million, the Nets could face a $50 million luxury tax. The Knicks, the Hawks, the Hornets and the Wolves could try to lure away the talented sharpshooter, while there have been rumors of Harris sign-and-trades, with capped-out teams like the Sixers or the Warriors. One things is for sure, Harris should maintain a similar role going forward whether he re-signs with the Nets or not.

Bruno Fernando has spent part of his offseason watching every game from his rookie year, as he looking for areas to improve in his game.

“I was just really not being decisive,” Fernando said. “I think that was the biggest thing that really didn’t allow me to be myself because I was scared of making mistakes.” Fernando has been working a lot with Clint Capela at the Hawks minicamp that started last week. The Angolan big will have to fight Dewayne Dedmon for minutes next year as the Hawks are expected to start John Collins next to Capela. Fernando’s work ethic though is a great sign and it remains to be seen if he will be able to crack the rotation.

Marc Stein of NY Times is reporting that Jeff Van Gundy and Ty Lue have emerged as the early favorites to become the next head coach of the Clippers.

Lue appears to suddenly be in great demand around the league with the Sixers, the Pelicans and the Rockets reportedly after him. The report says that the Clippers may have decided to part ways with Doc Rivers because they didn’t want to lose him to a contender, although this seems to be a stretch. Van Gundy meanwhile hasn’t coached an NBA team since back in 2007 when he spent four years with the Rockets. Look for more names to come up in the next few days although it’s almost certain that the Clippers will hire a veteran coach.

According to a report, the Rockets have interest in Doc Rivers as they continue their search for a head coach.

Mike D'Antoni will not be back next year, and rumors have swirled around candidates such as Jeff Van Gundy. However, Rivers could be a possibility now that he will not return to the Clippers. Rivers held a regular season record of 356-208 during his tenure with the Clippers.
