Jimmy Butler (personal) will not travel for Heat two-game road trip

Jimmy Butler (personal reasons) will not travel for the Heat's upcoming two-game road trip.

Butler is the proud father of a newborn baby and is taking time away to be with his family. Tyler Herro will likely take his place in the starting lineup and should continue to be started for as long Butler is out.

Dwight Howard saw just 16 minutes off the bench in Friday's win over the Nuggets but made the most of his time on the floor, producing 13 points, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Howard made 4-of-5 shots from the field and true to form, made just five of his eight attempts at the line. Despite his limited time, mostly due to fouls (four fouls), Howard was able throw the Nuggets off their rhythm with his two blocks and two steals. The key to the Lakers' success in this game was the strong effort they got from their role-players. Danny Green, who scored just eight points on 3-of-10 shooting, still made a huge impact with a team-high plus-10 in the +/- column.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was the Lakers' second leading scorer with 18 points (6-of-10 FG, 3-of-4 FT) on Friday, hitting 3-of-5 3-pointers and adding one rebound, one assist, one steal and one block in 30 minutes.

KCP was a solid second scoring option for L.A. tonight, just behind Anthony Davis' 37 points. He's a notably streaky shooter and it so happened that he was in the zone tonight. That said, his great game was timely as LeBron James quietly put up 15 points and 12 assists while dealing with a sore right groin.

JaVale McGee

JaVale McGee logged just 11 minutes in his return to the starting lineup on Friday, missing his only shot (a 3-pointer) and recording one block during his time on the floor.

A flurry of fouls is what kept McGee off the court for an extended period (four fouls). The Nuggets tried to run at a quick pace, which also proved to be a poor matchup situation for him. We may not see much of McGee in this series, with the exception of brief stints to put a body on Nikola Jokic.

LeBron James

LeBron James (sore right goin) was noticeably quiet as he put up just 15 points (6-of-11 shooting) on Friday, but made up for it by facilitating the Laker offense with 12 assists to go with six boards.

We can likely chalk up James' quiet outing to that sore right groin. That said, the Nuggets have a lot to be concerned about if they get dismantled this easily with James on cruise control. For now, James is content to see his teammates deal the damage on the scoreboard, but expect him to be able to amp up his game on a moment's notice if he's ever needed to do so. Nuggets are going to be in for a tough challenge dealing with James and Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers squad.

Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis was an unstoppable "Force of Nature" on Friday as the Lakers defeated the Nuggets in convincing fashion, 126-114, bullying them with 37 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the field and 12-of-15 shooting from the free throw line.

AD also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with his one 3-pointer and three assists. He was on scoring duty tonight, pretty much having his way against any defender the Nuggets threw at him. That said, his lack of steals or blocks was a bit disappointing. At the end of the day, his team got the win and he showed the world a strong case why he and not Nikola Jokic is the best center in the league.
