Jonathon Simmons served as the Spurs’ sixth man in Sunday’s loss but could soon find himself pressed into a major role.
Simmons finished with 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting with a pair of threes in 26 minutes on Sunday and was trusted to guard Kevin Durant for stretches. If Kawhi Leonard is forced to miss time, Simmons will be under the spotlight as the presumed replacement starter. Last series served as his coming out party, but this is a whole new level for the previously unheralded player. He could make himself a nice chunk of change this offseason and it’ll be fascinating to see how his role evolves over the course of this series.
