Jonathon Simmons underwent surgery to repair a ligament in his right wrist on April 24th.
Simmons missed the last 12 games of the 2017-2018 season with what the team called a wrist contusion. He saw a hand specialist after the season who determined surgery was necessary to repair the ligament. The veteran should heal in time to be ready for the opening up the 2018-2019 season and will likely open up as the starting small forward for the Magic depending on what free agent moves the team makes. The forward had modest value last year producing 13.9 points, 3.5 boards, 2.5 assists and 2.1 turnovers. The 28-year-old could increase his value next season if the Magic don't match offers for Aaron Gordon. The team is also likely looking to tank again and Simmons should get plenty of run barring injury.
