Jordan Bell sent text messages to his former high school coach Sharrief Metoyer which said that he was considering sitting out the rest of the 2017-2018 season in order to let his ankle fully recover.
Bell sent the messages when he was rehabbing in mid-January and mid-February and then sent one again after rolling his ankle against the Pelicans on March 27. "Maybe I need to sit this whole season out," Bell texted. "I can get healthy." It's incredibly natural to see a young, talented player like Bell want to preserve his body and not garner an injury that will linger throughout his entire career. His numbers did go down after December, as they dropped from 7.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 20 minutes to 3.5 points and 3.2 rebounds in 13 minutes.
