• Josh Richardson is working closely with Erik Spoelstra in an effort to identify and solve his offensive struggles early in the season.

Richardson said Spoelstra told him last week that he has been settling too much for jumpers and needed “to take advantage of closeouts and screens and start getting to the bucket a little bit.” He is shooting 37.8 percent from the field and 28.4 percent from three-point range but Richardson, who led the NBA in three-point percentage the second half of his rookie season, said he feels like he’s just missed shots that have been open. The first step in solving a problem is identifying the issue and it’s good to hear that the young forward is looking to be more aggressive by taking more shots in the paint and in the restricted area. Sunday was a good start as he went a combined 6-of-8 from inside and the buy-low window might be closing for the versatile guard who is returning top-150 value so far this season.
