Karl-Anthony Towns was relegated to the back burner in Sunday's Game 1 defeat, shooting only 3-of-9 for eight points, 12 rebounds and a block in 40 minutes of action.
Not the finest playoff debut from KAT, though plenty of questions should be lobbed over to the other Wolves about why he was only able to take nine shots tonight. There were repeated possessions where he found himself with a mismatch in the post only to be told to clear out and open the driving lanes. Perhaps Minnesota wanted to clear the path for offensive rebounds with Clint Capela switched onto guards, but ignoring KAT on James Harden seems like a bit extreme. It's also worth noting that Towns does have some trouble passing out of the post, especially when doubles come. No matter what the cause, he simply has to be less of a passenger on offense. Four other Wolves took more shots than KAT tonight, and two of them were Jamal Crawford and Derrick Rose.
