Karl-Anthony Towns came away with 16 points, nine rebounds, an assist and a pair of 3-pointers in the Wolves’ 123-114 loss to the Blazers.
Towns shot it well, shooting 6-for-9 from the floor and 2-for-4 from deep but there’s a strange trend developing. One would think that with Jimmy Butler sitting out, that would mean Towns launching shots and attacking the rim as the no-doubt number one option. But in the three games Butler has missed, Towns has yet to take double-digit field goal attempts. For reference, KAT put up 10 or more shots in 21 straight games before this three-game stretch. Perhaps defenses are more keyed in on Towns and that’s leading him to not get involved like he normally does. Butler should return this week which could be the best thing for KAT.
