Kenny Atkinson said that improving the Nets defense will be a top priority this season and that Jarrett Allen needs to become a better defensive rebounder.
Allen only averaged 5.4 rebounds per game last year though he only received 20.0 mpg on the full year. He averaged 6.4 per night in 23.9 mpg over his final 30 starts of the year, and he should push up closer to 8.0 as his minutes rise. Strength and shooting are things that could cap the sophomore's workload but he's already emerged as a popular sleeper candidate because of his elite shot-blocking potential and strong finish to last season. Allen becoming a better rebounder would push him closer to middle-round numbers.
