Kent Bazemore may have only scored 13 points in Sunday’s 126-125 comeback victory, but he was a crucial part of the rally that pushed the Hawks past the defending champs.
Bazemore and Paul Millsap tied up Kyrie Irving with 4.9 seconds to go and Bazemore proceeded to knock the ensuing jump ball over to Millsap for the buzzer-beating bucket that sent the game to OT. Bazemore also stole a wayward inbounds pass and broke away for a layup to put the Hawks up late, and it was the biggest of his four swipes on the day. He also shot 4-of-8 and added four assists in his 30 minutes tonight. It’s little solace for fantasy owners who saw their mid-round selection fall outside the top-125, but it was a big day for Baze. Maybe he’ll turn it around next year – if nothing else, he’ll come cheaper in the draft.
