Kevin Durant (knee) would not reveal a target return date during a news conference on Wednesday.
Durant initially believed he had a fractured tibia when the injury occurred and was relieved to hear it was a Grade 2 MCL sprain and bone bruise meaning his season was not over. He said, “I just do treatment on my knee and lift weights, but the next two weeks, I really don’t know, I’m just taking it a day at a time.” Coach Steve Kerr did say that KD’s timetable is six weeks which isn’t much help to fantasy owners without an IR spot.
If your fantasy team is comfortably in the playoffs, you can stash him without an IR spot but we wouldn’t recommend it. The Warriors will likely use whatever games Durant is available during the last week of the regular season to knock the rust off his game before their playoff run begins. A combination of Pat McCaw, Matt Barnes and Andre Iguodala will continue to see more time while Durant is on the mend.
