Mindaugas Kuzminskas scored 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting (including two threes) with five rebounds and one assist in Lithuania’s win over Argentina on Thursday.
Kuzminskas signed a two-year deal with the Knicks over the summer and their rotation isn’t exactly Fort Knox, so if he started making some headway it wouldn’t be a total shock. Perhaps a bigger angle from this game was the performance of Domantas Sabonis (seven points, six boards, two steals, two blocks, 19 minutes), who looked more like a small ball four than the slow-footed, post playing center that some folks made him out to be. He’s going to have some rookie moments and Billy Donovan may choose to break him in coming off the bench, but Ersan Ilyasova shouldn’t be getting comfortable anytime soon in OKC.
