Kyle Lowry and Marc Gasol will not play in Thursday's open scrimmage.
It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the two oldest players on the Raptors roster will sit out of this open scrimmage. The team already knows what they have in these veterans so they are choosing to give their younger players more run before any meaningful games. Lowry also had surgery in the offseason to repair his left thumb tendon while Gasol played as much basketball as he has in any given year with the team playing into June and his participation in the FIBA World Cup. They should both be ready to go to start the regular season but may continue to miss time this preseason as a precautionary measure.
