New Pelican Langston Galloway has indicated that he’s ready to play either backcourt spot this season.
Galloway may be ready to play wherever he’s needed but still finds himself in a battle for minutes. In addition to Galloway the Pelicans have Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans, Tim Frazier and rookie Buddy Hield in the guard rotation. He’s hard pressed to improve on last year’s averages of 7.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 threes. That’s adequate low end value, but the classiest name in the game needed 24.8 minutes per night to get there and now finds himself in a more crowded rotation. He’s got a few things going for him: his career 34.8% from deep and the fact that most members of the New Orleans rotation aren’t exactly pillars of durability. He won’t be worth drafting but will probably find his way onto rosters in the event of an injury in front of him.
