Langston Galloway will likely be one of the first players off the bench when the Pistons open the regular season against the Nets on Wednesday.
Galloway came into training camp as somewhat of a forgotten man. After signing a three-year, $21-million contract as a free agent last summer, he bounced in and out of Stan Van Gundy's rotation, averaging 6.2 points in 14.9 minutes per game. A fresh perspective and a coaching change has allowed Galloway to emerge as a key member of the second unit as Dwane Casey plans to use him at small forward in small-ball lineups. He will have some value as a threes specialist but he is a streaky scorer, shooting below 40 percent in four out of his five NBA seasons so far.
