The Lakers will start Larry Nance Jr. at power forward in Friday’s preseason finale, and coach Luke Walton also said that Kyle Kuzma has a “10 percent” chance of winning the job on opening night.
Credit to Bill Oram of SoCal News Group for grabbing the quotes. Julius Randle and the MuscleWatch seem to have fallen by the wayside a bit, though there’s still a strong chance that he slots in ahead of Nance on opening night. The battle between those two has been the best B-plot of Lakers camp, and if Nance were to emerge victorious he would get a nice bump into top-120 value. Randle would still see tons of ball-handling and scoring responsibilities in the second unit, but you’d have to downgrade him slightly. Draft accordingly. For Kuzma, it’s impressive that he was even mentioned in the conversation here but he completely earned it with a strong preseason. He’s not going to make standard league impact barring injury, however.
