Marc Gasol played 46 minutes in a double OT win against the Pelicans on Monday, finishing with 28 points on 11-of-25 from the field to go along with 3-of-4 from the line, three 3-pointers, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, two blocks and three turnovers.
Wow. Regardless of his 46 minutes, this was a crazy stat line. Gasol has always been known more for his steady efficient production instead of monster lines, but tonight is proof that he’s capable of it. A lot of that may be attributed to the pace that coach David Fizdale has implemented as opposed to the slow grit and grind style of previous years in Memphis. Whatever the case, due to his injury risks and the fact that he’s ranked in the top-10 in his last eight games, he’s a sell high candidate if you can recoup a first or second round player.
