The Knicks will start Elfrid Payton, R.J. Barrett, Marcus Morris, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson in Monday's preseason opener.
Payton is starting for the injured Dennis Smith Jr. (back) but it's Morris that is the real surprise here. Starting roles may not mean much under David Fizdale's rule but it's notable that Morris is getting first crack over a presumed core piece in Kevin Knox. The rotation figures to be a mess but earning a starting spot, even if it's at a position that doesn't suit him best, will vastly improve Morris' chances of delivering late-round fantasy value. He's still not a recommended target but that could change if he turns in a great preseason.
