• Marcus Smart
    PG/SG, Boston Celtics

Marcus Smart (thumb) is on track to return for Game 6 against the Bucks.

The original timetable gave Smart a chance to return for Game 7 in the first round, but just before Game 4 on Sunday he said he expects it to be earlier. “Right now, [a Game 6 return is] the plan and we’re still on the same track,” Smart said before Game 4 on Sunday. “I’ve been doing everything but contact, so I will be able to go and start that.” When Smart does return he is anticipated on wearing a brace to help protect his recently repaired thumb, but said it should not factor into his play much. “Actually [the splint and tape is] real comfortable. It feels like nothing’s there,” Smart said. “To have that comfortability, especially in my dominant hand, my shooting hand, that’s a good feeling to have.” The Celtics will likely keep the starting unit intact, but expect Smart to immediately play a large role off of the bench and in crunch time.
