Mario Hezonja was ticked at himself, not coach David Fizdale, for not starting him in Monday’s preseason opener.
“Everything is on me,” Hezonja said after the Knicks’ 124-121 overtime victory over the Wizards. “I need to make a clearer path to see where my teammates are. The turnovers, that’s really pissing me off. It’s really bothering me.” The Hezonja-Thomas battle bears watching during training camp. Lance Thomas was chosen as the starting power forward for the opener, and he did very well with 12 first-half points. He is the veteran presence that a young Knicks team needs and if Hezonja keeps racking up turnovers like he did in Orlando he probably isn’t beating out Thomas.
