In a recent interview, coach McMillan said “I look forward to getting to that as much as possible” when asked about lineups featuring both Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner.
Good news for Sabonis owners, who have enjoyed averages of 11.2 points and 9.8 rebounds over just 24.5 minutes per game in the early going. In order for Sabonis to become a mainstay in standard leagues he will need to knock down threes or accumulate defensive stats. A consequence of more Turner-Sabonis lineups may be less minutes for Thad Young. Currently averaging just under 32 MPG, Thad may be at risk of losing a handful of minutes per game unless McMillan decides to slot him more at the small forward. He may also be a trade candidate in the final year of his contract prior to his player option. It’s hard to imagine a trade would help his value.
