With Michael Carter-Williams back at practice on Monday and Tuesday, Mike D’Antoni said that the guard will be in the Rockets’ opening-night rotation.
MCW missed the final three preseason games with a sore knee, but is expected to be ready tonight against the Pelicans. Even with Marquese Chriss (sprained ankle) and Nene (right calf soreness) out, that could mean a nine-player rotation, if Carter-Williams and Gerald Green both play. A nine-player rotation is deeper than typical for D’Antoni, but he said he was fine with that. MCW had some strong preseason games and it will be interesting to see if he is able to hold any value with so many mouths to feed in Houston.
