• Monty Williams
    Team, San Antonio Spurs

According to reports on Wednesday, Sixers coach Brett Brown is talking to Monty Williams in regard to the top assistant coaching position.

Lloyd Pierce was the top assistant coach for the Sixers before leaving for the Atlanta Hawks head coaching position. Brown recently signed a three-year extension and Williams makes sense as an assistant coach for Philadelphia. Williams is currently working in the San Antonio front office and last was an assistant coach for the Thunder in 2015-16. Prior to that Williams was the head coach of the New Orleans for five seasons. Williams also played under Gregg Popovich for three years and finished up his playing career for the Sixers. Brown came from the Popovich coaching tree so the transition from Pierce to Williams, if he gets the job, will most likely be a smooth one. Williams is very well respected throughout the NBA.
