Trae Young has added 13 pounds since starting his work with trainer Travelle Gaines two months ago and is now up to 183 pounds.
Young has also increased his 185 pound bench press from six to 15 reps in that same timeframe. Appropriately named, Gaines has worked with over 200 pro athletes in his career both in the NFL and NBA. One knock on Young coming out of Oklahoma is his small frame and lack of high-end athleticism. If he can continue to add muscle, and not take away from his speed with the extra weight, it should help his career from the get-go. Young most popularly projected to be selected between picks six and nine which are held by the Magic, Bulls, Cavs and Knicks – all teams that could use a scoring and playmaking point guard. It's never too early for a muscle watch, even if you haven't been drafted yet.
