Nikola Mirotic led the power forward pack again on Tuesday, seeing 28 minutes and turning them into 24 points (9-of-18 shooting), eight rebounds and four 3-pointers.
It was Bobby Portis, not rookie Lauri Markkanen, who placed second tonight with 24 minutes and nine points, eight rebounds and a steal. Mirotic remains the choice play of the trio as his stat set can pretty easily support top-90 output. While it was Portis who was playing well tonight, he typically doesn’t do much outside of points and rebounds and will be the first guy to see his minutes cut on a regular night. Markkanen’s lost some of his luster with Mirotic’s return but remains a hold in standard leagues. For the first time in a couple years, Mirotic feels like a reliable play. Keep rolling him out there until the wheels fall off.
