Pau Gasol shot 8-for-18 from the field and 3-for-4 from the line for 19 points with 11 rebounds, five assists and one steal in Monday’s 102-100 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Pau was on a minutes cap prior to Monday’s game, but that was certainly broken tonight as Pau was kept on the floor for 34 minutes. The culture in Chicago is to gut it out to end this season and finish strong as the Bulls are sitting 2.5 games behind the Pistons for the 8th and final playoff spot in the East. Owners who were patient with Pau and made it this far are now reaping the benefits. It will be interesting to see how Hoiberg handles this five-game week with so many ailing starters.
Speaking of ailing starters, Derrick Rose is the last man standing in Chicago these days (who knew) and had a productive yet inefficient night. Rose was just 8-for-25 from the field for 20 points with two threes, five rebounds, five dimes, two steals and one block in 34 minutes. He will continue to be a mid-round asset with high upside.
