After months of negotiating, Nerlens Noel has finally agreed to a one-year qualifying offer from the Mavs for much less than what everyone expected him to get.
It was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski that the Mavs offered Noel a four-year, $70 million contract on July 1. Noel rejected it because he still wanted a max contract and the Mavs withdrew their offer. Other teams knew the Mavs would likely match any offer they made so they didn’t even try and therefore, Noel missed out on a lot of money. He might still get what he wants next offseason but other big-men such as DeMarcus Cousins, DeAndre Jordan, LaMarcus Aldridge, Brook Lopez and Joel Embiid will also be on the market so Noel really has to play his butt off this year. He was a top-60 player in fantasy in only 22.0 minutes per game for the Mavericks. His per-36 numbers were 14.0 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.8 blocks.
