Doug McDermott has agreed to a three-year, $22 million deal with the Pacers.
Originally an RFA, McDermott had a qualifying offer extended and then rescinded by the Mavs, who were trying to open up cap space (which they've since spent on DeAndre Jordan). It's a steep price to pay for McDermott, especially with the deal apparently being fully guaranteed. He hasn't shown a ton in his NBA career so far but it can be argued pretty easily that nobody's really put him in the best position to succeed. He figures to play some two and three for the Pacers, though the Mavs toyed with him at power forward some. Indiana will need to see him take some steps in his development for this to be a winner of a deal but it shouldn't be a back-breaker.
