According to Jonathan Feigen, Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni said that he expects Patrick Beverley to remain in the team’s starting backcourt.
“Pat can play off the ball, on the ball. He’s a great defensive player so there’s a lot of spots he can play,” D’Antoni said. There has been a lot of talk about James Harden moving to the point guard position and there was a bit of an assumption that Eric Gordon would become the team’s starting two-guard, but it looks like the Rockets understand that they’re going to need arguably their best defender on the floor. Beverley averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range last season.
