Patrick McCaw led the Warriors’ bench in Game 2, dropping 18 points with three triples, five assists and three steals in an easy win.
Even accounting for the score, this was a terrific showing by McCaw. It was thought that Shaun Livingston would soak up the minutes vacated by the injured Andre Iguodala, but he could muster just 10 points in 13 minutes tonight while McCaw logged 27. Ian Clark also added 10 points off the bench, going from fringe-rotation to 22 minutes with the drop of a hat. The other bench contributor (we’ll use the term loosely), Matt Barnes, was somehow a minus-6 in 15 minutes on the night despite Golden State throttling the Spurs from start to finish. He started the third quarter in place of the injured Zaza Pachulia but the poor results should put an end to that experiment if Pachulia misses time. If there are any takeaways from this one, it’s that McCaw has earned himself more playing time going forward.
