Spurs center Pau Gasol believes his play in the 104-100 win over Miami on Sunday showed he's a good fit for a starting unit that includes an abundance of scorers.

“I feel like I can help DeMar, Rudy, Dejounte and L.A. get easier baskets, make that extra pass, stop the game a little bit when it needs to be stopped," Gasol said after practice Monday. He scored just three points in 17 minutes in the season opener, but the high-IQ veteran ran the floor well while doing his usual stellar work as a facilitator. Jakob Poeltl came off the bench and also had success in a small-ball look that included Patty Mills, Marco Belinelli and Davis Bertans. This is a fun battle to watch and regardless of the outcome Pau is expected to get enough minutes to guarantee his worth as a late round selection.
