The Raptors have extended the contract of Masai Ujiri and promoted him to team president
It’s a multiyear extension of unknown length. The Raptors also promoted Jeff Weltman to General Manager and Bobby Webster to assistant GM. It’s a strong move from Raptors owner Larry Tanenbaum. Masai Ujiri was responsible for the Carmelo Anthony trade in Denver, as well as some of their collection of young pieces. He hit the ground running in Toronto by signing Kyle Lowry and Amir Johnson, and inked DeMar DeRozan to a long term extension. Reports indicate Ujiri will still have final say over newly minted GM Jeff Weltman.
