Jakob Poeltl played 23 minutes against the Cavs on Wednesday while Pascal Siakam got dusted off for 28 minutes of his own in the road victory.
Poeltl finished with seven points, five rebounds, two assists and a block while Siakam posted eight points, 10 boards and a steal. Siakam was thrust into starting duties far before he was ready thanks to Jared Sullinger’s (remember him?) offseason foot injury but did little with the opportunity. When reinforcements arrived he was sent to the D-League, which will help him in the long run. Poeltl was a high-floor pick who has terrific instincts on the offensive glass and has shown good defensive tendencies already. His consistency allowed him to leapfrog Bebe Nogueira in the rotation and it’s hard to see him losing ground in that battle next year. Neither seems like a fantasy factor next season, though Poeltl is closer to “low-end big man” status than some may realize.
