The Cavs have reached out to free agents David Nwaba, Trevor Booker and Luke Babbitt according to Cleveland.com.
Nwaba is apparently interested in the Cavs while conversations with Booker and Babbitt have been more preliminary. Nwaba sits atop our free agent value rankings and would be a great get after the Bulls rescinded their qualifying offer to make him an unrestricted free agency. The price doesn't figure to be prohibitive and Nwaba offers nice perimeter defense, quality rebounding for his position and some defensive versatility. He's the type of relatively-unproven player that the rebuilding Cavs should be taking a flier on — much more so than veterans Booker and Babbitt. Booker makes sense for teams in need of a veteran presence who can come in and deliver hustle plays and rebounds, while Babbitt is just a deep bench guy who can stretch the floor. The Cavs have multiple irons in the fire between free agency and potential trades, so expect another transaction or two out of Cleveland soon.
