The Mavs are working on a trade for DeAndre Jordan, per Marc Stein of the New York Times.
Jordan can use his player option to opt in for next season at $24.1 million, and if he does before that Friday deadline then the Mavs would be able to acquire him before July 1 — otherwise they'd have to pursue him in free agency with the rest of the league. Jordan is said to be weighing the pros and cons of opting in but the Clippers have given his agent the permission to explore trade scenarios with other teams. If a trade between the Clips and Mavs comes to fruition, Wesley Matthews is likely to be headed westward. It looks like there won't be any hostage situations this time around.
