A source told Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com that the Hawks offered Kent Bazemore to the Cavaliers to move up to the number three pick in the NBA draft.
The Cavaliers would have presumably given up just the number eight pick and taken on Bazemore's salary to move up five spots. The report did not disclose full details of what the Cavs would give up, but it may not have had enough traction to get that far in talks. Collin Sexton was the player that the Cavs wanted and will lean on as they enter into a new era without LeBron James. Sexton has shown some of his scoring potential in Summer League so far and showed his leadership during his one year at Alabama, but with Luka Doncic on the board the Cavs must have thought very highly of Sexton.
