Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee reports that the Kings and Knicks were not close in trade discussions surrounding Zach Randolph and Enes Kanter and may have broken off talks entirely.
It's a deal framework that makes sense for a few reasons but the Kings would've needed to add in some sweeteners and the teams probably couldn't agree on what sort of additions were fair. It's clear that the Knicks are open to moving Kanter, however, so expect his name to stay in the rumor mill leading up to February's deadline. The Kings, on the other hand, seem open to moving some of their players on expiring deals to help them in their pursuit of the playoffs. This probably isn't the last we've heard from them on that front, either.
