ESPN’s Marc J. Spears and Marc Stein have reported that Marc Gasol (foot) has opted to not play for the Spain national team in the upcoming Rio Olympics due to his broken right foot.
This does not bode well for a 7-foot tall big man in his 30’s. Yao Ming had similar foot issues that forced him to miss games throughout his career and ultimately led to his early retirement. Let’s hope for better luck for the Spaniard Center. The Grizzlies would probably deploy a couple of different looks with a mixture of JaMychal Green, Brandan Wright and coveted rookie Deyonta Davis to replace Gasol if he cannot heal before the season starts. For dynasty leagues we suggest selling him if you can get anything of value in case the other shoe drops soon.
