According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Rockets have shown interest in acquiring Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
The Lakers and Suns are connected in Trevor Ariza talks, but Los Angeles would need someone to take on Caldwell-Pope's $12 million contract — that's where the Rockets come in. Houston badly needs 3-and-D types but adding KCP to the roster would likely require them to find a taker for Brandon Knight, who hasn't played since early 2017. Ariza was a DNP-CD on Monday but no deal is imminent, and one wonders if the Rockets would just be interested in trading for Ariza themselves. Caldwell-Pope can also veto any trade, so he might not accept a move to Houston unless he's promised more opportunity than he's getting with the Lakers.
