Sam Amick of USA Today is reporting that the Spurs have made it known that they'll only trade Kawhi Leonard to an Eastern Conference team if they can't mend their relationship.
This backs up previous reports about the Lakers being shut down in talks. It's a bit curious as to why the Spurs would limit themselves to half the league — not trading with L.A. is one thing but if they're going to move Leonard, they might want to consider the possibility of moving Kawhi to another team out West if it can return them the best package overall. If San Antonio is forced to trade him, they're looking at a rebuild situation and limiting the teams you can collect assets from seems like an unnecessary step. On the other hand, Philadelphia and Boston look best equipped to make a deal anyway so it could all be a moot point. Between LeBron James and Kawhi, the rest of the league may be in a holding pattern until the two superstars take their next steps.
