Contract talks between the Cavs and Rodney Hood have stalled according to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports.
There were rumors several days ago about the Cavs offering Hood a three-year deal but Schultz is hearing that Hood wants a fair, short-term deal. He's likely going to bet on himself in an expanded role with Cleveland this year, rehabbing his value by playing a lot and putting up numbers on a rebuilding team before trying to sign a larger deal in free agency. Hood was a nice young player for the Jazz before last season's nightmare campaign, and if he could recapture a little bit of his old form he'd absolutely be able to make more money than he would on Cleveland's alleged three-year proposal — especially in the summer of 2019 when teams around the league see some bad money come off the books. Even if Hood ends up playing this year on a qualifying offer, he's a decent bounceback target for fantasy. It wasn't long ago that he was a top-120 option and he should certainly have opportunities to produce this year. It's not a risk-free situation but you could do worse with one of your final few picks.
