The Warriors reached out to Kevon Looney shortly after free agency began to let him know that they were interested in retaining him, according to Mark Medina of the Mercury News.
It's very well known that the Warriors don't have much depth when it comes to bigs so keeping the ones that they do have is important. Looney really turned it on down the stretch of the regular season and had some good runs in the postseason as well, likely convincing the Warriors to keep the young big man. With Golden State's cap being tight this offseason, they can't offer him more than $2.3 million per season but the cheap contracts of Ed Davis and Aaron Baynes only serve to help their issue. Only 21-years old, Looney still has a ton of time to develop and might turn out to be a key piece of the Warriors' future plans.
