Three days after a rumor for a gigantic offer to Dwayne Wade from a team in China, a report has confirmed that the Zhejiang Golden Bulls are proposing a deal at $25 million over three years.
The Zhejiang Golden Bulls have attracted a variety of American players over the years, including former Heat players Eddy Curry, Jarnell Stokes and Mike James, as well as Americans like J.R. Smith, Josh Boone, Quincy Douby, Kirk Snyder, Ivan Johnson and Lorenzo Brown. The Heat, who are operating above the NBA salary cap, are limited either to an offer of the $5.3 million taxpayer mid-level exception for the 2018-19 season or the $2.3 million minimum salary for a player of Wade's 15-season NBA tenure. Among the reasons Wade cited for his return last season to the Heat and ongoing preference to remain in South Florida was to spend more time with his sons amid their burgeoning basketball careers.
