• When asked about Nerlens Noel’s DNP in Saturday’s contest against the Cavs coach Rick Carlisle acknowledged it being difficult to play traditional centers against the Cavs and that Salah Mejri has earned minutes over Noel.

Against a team playing more traditional bigs we still might see Noel for 10-20 minutes per game, but it’s clear that Mejri is ahead of Noel for the time being. It’s been a frustrating year for Noel owners, who will have to make a decision as to whether his upside warrants stashing him. He’s brought top-175 numbers in 8-cat leagues on the back of 1.6 defensive stats per game this season. With Noel entering unrestricted free agency this off-season and the Mavs stinking it up, it’s possible that this could turn into a lost year for Noel. Mejri only played 10 minutes against the Cavs, but has blocked five shots in each of his last two games when playing over 20 minutes. He has usefulness as a blocks specialist.
